Welcome to the Disabled Parenthood Podcast. I’m Erica Evans. If you’re disabled, chronically ill, or neurodivergent and you’ve ever wondered what pregnancy or parenthood might look like for someone like you, you’re in the right place. Every episode, I’ll be sitting down with disabled parents and parents-to-be for real conversations about family building, pregnancy, birth, parenting, and everything in between. We’ll talk about the realities, the adaptations, the challenges, the joys, and all the things that don’t fit neatly into the stories we usually hear.
I created this podcast because I went looking for these conversations and there weren’t enough of them. So I’m making one.
I’m so glad you’re here. Follow the podcast so you don’t miss our first full episode launching on July 26th, the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

About the podcast
I kept searching for a podcast devoted entirely to disabled family-building and parenthood. Instead, I mostly found occasional interviews with a disabled parent on someone else’s show. I wanted a place where disabled, chronically ill, and neurodivergent people could have the kinds of conversations we’re often already having with one another: about deciding whether to become parents, trying to conceive, alternative paths to parenthood, navigating pregnancy, adapting family life, asking for help, grieving, laughing, changing plans, and figuring things out as we go. I was surprised by how few spaces like this existed, so I decided to create one.
The Disabled Parenthood Podcast is intentionally conversational—like the kinds of phone conversations you might have with other disabled parents when alone on a long drive (in fact it was inspired by such a phone conversation I had myself!).
My hope is that if you’re wondering what parenthood could look like for you, you’ll hear stories here that help you feel a little less alone and, if you’re not on one yet, a little more able to imagine your own path.
